Research at Tucson Eye Care

We are committed to clinical research at Tucson Eye Care. Current studies include:

  • Evaluation of effects of various glaucoma medications

  • Visual outcomes for post-refractive surgery patients following cataract surgery

  • Efficacy of SLT laser in lowering eye pressure

Glaucoma Research

There is considerable research in an attempt to identify other factors that may contribute to glaucoma. The blood supply to the optic nerve, the concentration of glutamate (an amino acid) and the presence of free radicals may all have a role. As this research unfolds, our options of treatment will expand.
